Mercy College Student Health Coverage: Overview, Rates and Waiver Information
Mercy College of Ohio strongly believes it is important that all students maintain health care coverage to help ensure academic success and well-being. In addition, to be in compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), all individuals are required by law to have health insurance coverage. To assist with this goal, Mercy College of Ohio is again offering our Student Health Coverage Plan provided by United Health Care (UHC). We believe this plan provides excellent levels of health coverage with low out-of-pocket costs when compared to other plans offered commercially or through the ACA website.
The new coverage begins August 17, 2015 and ends August 16, 2016. All students enrolled in 6 credit hours or more for the Fall 2015 semester will be automatically enrolled in the plan and the annual premium of $1587.00 will be added to the fall billing statements. The Fall open enrollment period begins on July 15, 2015 and the Open Enrollment/Waiver period ends September 2, 2015.
A student may waive (decline) participation in the plan and have the health insurance charges removed by completing the Health Insurance Waiver Form before the posted deadline of September 2, 2015. If you waive Mercy College’s student health insurance, you are stating that you are already enrolled in a health insurance plan and will submit a copy of your current insurance card. Once the waiver has been received, the charge will be removed from your bill.
Mercy College students who are registered for at least 6 credits and do not submit an insurance waiver by the deadline will be automatically enrolled in and billed for the Mercy College Student Health Insurance Plan (UHC).
The waiver is available on the Mercy College website. For more information about the Student Health Plan, please contact the Business Office at 419-251-1726.
