Convenience Attracts Students From Near and Far To Accelerated Nursing Program
It’s a where’s where of hometowns in the Mercy College of Ohio hybrid format for the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program.
Students participating in the program come from as far away as Glendora, CA, and as close as the Toledo area, such as Perrysburg, Tiffin, and Waterville – with everything in between, including Monroe, MI, and Columbus! The ABSN is designed to provide greater flexibility and accessibility for students from diverse locations with online and in-person learning that caters to the needs of today’s busy nursing students.
The program’s many pins on a map proves it does just that.
Recognizing the importance of flexibility in education, Mercy College has shifted all lecture-based coursework for the ABSN program to an online format. This allows students to access course materials and participate in interactive learning experiences remotely, making it easier for students from a wide range of geographic locations and life circumstances to pursue their nursing degree.

What sets Mercy College's ABSN program apart is its scheduling approach, which is specifically tailored to support working students. Clinicals and labs are held primarily over four or five extended weekends each semester, allowing students to complete hands-on training without interrupting their weekday professional or personal commitments.
"This hybrid format is a game-changer for our students," said Jamie Tooman, MHA, MSN, Assistant Professor. "By offering online lectures and weekend clinicals, we’re making it possible for more students to balance their education with work and family responsibilities while still receiving the high-quality, hands-on training they need to succeed in the nursing profession."
By leveraging technology and adapting to the diverse needs of today’s learners, Mercy College remains committed to providing top-tier nursing education while fostering student success through flexibility and accessibility.
