New scholarship to support alumni who are graduates of the Mercy College of Ohio Youngstown location
Mercy College of Ohio is proud to announce the launch of the Lucile T. Heaver Nursing Education Fund, a new scholarship initiative created to support alumni who are graduates of the Mercy College of Ohio Youngstown location, who are continuing their nursing education to advance their careers and achieve their personal and professional goals.
The scholarship provides $2,500 per semester, for up to five semesters, to eligible alumni pursuing an online degree program beginning in 2026 or later.
“We are excited to offer this meaningful scholarship in honor of Lucile T. Heaver’s legacy and her commitment to nursing education,” said Lori Edgeworth, Vice President of Enrollment Management at Mercy College. “This fund provides critical support for our alumni as they return to school to further their impact on the communities they serve.” Scholarship funds are limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must be accepted to Mercy College to be eligible for the award.
Award
$2500 per semester for a maximum of five semesters
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a graduate of Mercy College of Ohio’s Youngstown campus, or a Mercy College of Ohio graduate currently residing in one of the following counties: Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Stark, or Portage (Ohio), or Mercer, Lawrence, or Beaver (Pennsylvania).
- Be a newly accepted student for an online program starting in 2026 or later.
- Enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 throughout program duration.

Please note that scholarship awards are limited and will be awarded on a first come first serve basis. Students must be accepted to Mercy College to be awarded the scholarship.
