Mercy College of Ohio Toledo campus commencement

Mercy College of Ohio is honored to introduce the final graduating class of 2019 during the fall commencement ceremony this Thursday. Among the 172 graduates walking the stage is Kim Ogden, who will graduate with honors with an associate degree in nursing.

Kim’s journey to the stage took several turns. After starting college right out of high school in 1985, life happened and she didn’t return to college until 31 years later in 2016. She pursued her dream of becoming a nurse in Mercy College’s evening and weekend associate degree program. She maintained honors through the program while working more than full-time hours. Kim was made class leader during her first nursing class in large part, because of her empathy, kind heart and diligent focus on all her classmates being successful. Faculty recognize her as a model student. Even more special is that Kim was able to spend her final semester at Mercy College of Ohio with her daughter, Camille Gist, who began in August.

Like many of Mercy College’s students, Kim was offered and accepted a position during her last semester. She will be working in the hemodialysis unit of Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center. She begins her new job in January as a Nurse Extern and expects to transition to a Registered Nurse position upon successful completion of the NCLEX licensure exam.

The Mercy College of Ohio fall commencement ceremony will include graduates receiving bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees and credit certificates in nursing and allied health fields, including Paramedic, Healthcare Administration, Health Information Technology, Medical Imaging, Polysomnographic Technology, and advanced imaging certificates.

The commencement ceremony is on Thursday, December 19 at the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle, 2445 Monroe St, Toledo, OH 43620
