Mercy College Faculty Member Selected as Oakland University School of Nursing Jonas Nurse Scholar
Aaronica Phommalee (pictured below), Assistant Professor of Nursing at Mercy College, was selected as the prestigious Oakland University School of Nursing Jonas Nurse Scholar. The goal of the Jonas Scholars program is to create a national pipeline of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)-prepared nurses who will transform and improve health care. Professor Phomalee has worked at Mercy College since December of 2017 teaching a variety of nursing courses in the RN to BSN completion program. Her areas of clinical expertise are medical-surgical, stroke, bariatric surgery education, and community-based diabetes education. Ms. Phommalee has experience teaching land-based courses in the areas of Critical Thinking, Electronic Health Records, Pharmacology, and Adult Medical-Surgical Nursing. She has also instructed online courses in the areas of Population Health Assessment, Global Focused Nursing Care, Community Health Nursing, Holistic Nursing, and Primary Care Nursing. Ms. Phommalee holds a certification in Quality Matters, which promotes the quality improvement of online education.
