Looking Ahead: Strengthening Mercy College for the Future
We are taking important steps to strengthen Mercy College’s role in preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
To ensure we continue to meet the growing demand for caregivers in our communities and best position Mercy College programming for future financial sustainability, and to avoid the unfortunate fate of other faith-based institutions of higher education, Mercy College and Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center conducted a thorough evaluation of our academic programs, operations, and long-term strategic priorities.
Following this review, we have identified opportunities to focus our resources on programs that most directly support workforce pipeline needs. As a result, select academic programs are being discontinued and were placed into teach-out, effective April 8:
Graduate: Master of Health Administration
Graduate Certificates: Healthcare Leadership, Nursing Leadership, and Nursing Education
Baccalaureate: Biology, Healthcare Administration, and Medical Laboratory Science
Associate: Health Information Technology
Undergraduate Certificates: Healthcare Management, Medical Coding, Community Health Worker, EMT-B, Paramedic, and Phlebotomy
This direction allows us to remain focused on educating caregivers in the most in-demand clinical roles while ensuring Mercy College’s long-term strength.
Supporting our students and faculty remains a top priority. For all affected programs, we will implement structured teach-out plans, advising, and continuity of instruction to ensure students can successfully complete their education.
Students should refer to the College Catalog and contact their advisor to ensure they have a program of study that enables them to meet graduation requirements before courses are no longer offered. Please let us know if you have any questions or need assistance by completing this FORM.
