Congratulations Spring Graduates
Mercy College of Ohio held spring commencement ceremonies at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2022, at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral at 2535 Collingwood Blvd. in Toledo, Ohio.
The 218 candidates for graduation received a master’s degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree or credit certificate in nursing and allied health fields. The spring 6 p.m. ceremony included Dawn Herr, Mercy College’s first RN to MSN graduate.
There were an additional 30 candidates for graduation in Youngstown. Commencement took place April 29, 2022 at the St. Columba Cathedral for the associate degree nursing graduates.
The 6 p.m. ceremony in Toledo also included the presentation of the Misericordia et Cura Award which is the highest honor bestowed by Mercy College. It recognizes individuals who focus on the values which are vital to the healing ministry and by their lives embody the College motto “Misericordia et Cura” meaning compassion and care. The award was presented to Joan Funkhouser.
Joan Funkhouser
Joan has actively served the Mercy College community in many roles for many years. She served on the Mercy College Foundation Board of Directors and on the Mercy College Board of Trustees and currently is a Mercy College Auxiliary Board Member . She was elected to serve as a Trustee Emeritus, and she continues to participate on the Board. Joan has been instrumental as a member of the Board of Trustees in leading the College forward.
