Students Participate in Disability Awareness Experience
Mercy College Physician Assistant and BSN Nursing students participated in an interprofessional “Disability Awareness Experience” at the Ability Center of Greater Toledo on April 11.
Dawn M. Borgerson MSN, Director, Clinical Simulation & Interprofessional Education, said, "This experience unlocked a new perspective on disability and challenged our healthcare students to think differently. Our students engaged in activities that included agility training, assistance dogs, wheelchair basketball, sensory equipment, vision impairment, and mobility/accessibility equipment."
The Ability Center provides services to people with disabilities in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan in an effort to create the nation’s most disability-friendly community.
