Mercy College Youngstown Nursing Students Participate in Service Learning Project
The Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley is a faith based community hub that serves the homeless in the Youngstown area. As part of their Mental Health clinical rotations, Mercy College Youngstown students each spent a day at the Mission over the weeks of May 29 and June 5.
Students made a health fair station that included poster presentations, handouts and giveaways. Topics, such as healthy eating, dental care, sun safety, substance abuse, and basic first aid were emphasized with a mental health twist. Many students have described the experience as life changing.
