Mercy College of Ohio is expanding the Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program
Building on the success of the Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program, Mercy College of Ohio is excited to announce the inclusion of two additional programs in May 2023 -- Surgical Technology and Health Information Technology (HIT).
This expansion will provide additional opportunities for students to pursue careers in high-demand fields and help meet the growing need for skilled professionals in the healthcare industry. The new scholarship opportunities join those that have already proven successful for students in Mercy College’s Paramedic, Sleep Tech, and Community Health Worker programs.
Scholarship awards may range from $1,500 to $4,000 per student per academic year.
"We are excited to expand the Choose Ohio First Scholarship program to include these two important healthcare programs," said Susan Wajert, PhD, President of Mercy College of Ohio. "By providing additional opportunities for students to pursue careers in healthcare, we are helping to address the growing need for skilled professionals in our state and ensure that Ohio remains a leader in healthcare innovation and delivery."
With the addition of Surgical Technology, Mercy College’s newest program, and Health Information Technology programs, Mercy College of Ohio will be able to offer even more opportunities for students to receive financial support. The HIT program is entirely online, and the Surg Tech program is offered in Toledo and Cincinnati, so the additional programs are available to people throughout Ohio. These programs will provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their chosen career paths and contribute to the healthcare workforce in Ohio. Information about all eligible programs at Mercy College and the application for the COF scholarship is available at mercycollege.edu/choose.
The Choose Ohio First Scholarship program, established by the Ohio Department of Higher Education, is designed to support undergraduate and certificate students pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM) fields. The program provides financial assistance to students who meet specific eligibility requirements, including academic achievement, residency in Ohio, and commitment to pursuing a STEMM career in Ohio.
The expansion of the Choose Ohio First Scholarship program at Mercy College of Ohio is a testament to the institution's commitment to providing students with access to high-quality education and training that will prepare them for successful careers in healthcare. With the addition of these two programs, Mercy College of Ohio is poised to continue to significantly impact the healthcare industry in Ohio and beyond.
