Kathryn Bubrig

Susan Wajert, PhD, President and CEO at Mercy College of Ohio, is pleased to announce that Mercy College of Ohio has been authorized to offer graduate programs by the Higher Learning Commission and the Ohio Department of Higher Education.

The first graduate program will be the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). The online MSN will start in August of 2017. “The Mercy College community is very proud of this achievement. It seems fitting that as we begin the centennial year anniversary that the first graduate program will be in nursing where it all began 100 years ago,” she added.

The MSN program will prepare those with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing for the professional nursing practice role in leader-ship. Deborah Karns, PhD, MSN, RN, CNS Director of BSN and MSN Programs says, “Our MSN curriculum is relevant and cutting edge for those individuals interested in expanding their career options as a nurse leader. We are thrilled to offer an MSN program that is designed to advance nursing practice, edu-cation, research, and leadership through scholarly activities and the integration of evidence-based knowledge.”

Students will gain a comprehensive perspective of leadership, healthcare policy, population-based healthcare, and informatics. The coursework is built to develop leaders who can perform at a strategic level to improve health system operations and positively impact patient outcomes. The first class will be limited to 20 students.
