Mercy College’s Pre-Chiropractic track of the Bachelor of Science in Biology program prepares students to become a certified chiropractor. As a healthcare professional, chiropractors focus on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders, with an emphasis on treatment through manual adjustment and/or manipulation of the spine. Usually, chiropractors seek to reduce pain and improve the functionality of patients. Chiropractors also educate patients on how they can account for their own health via exercise, ergonomics, and other therapies to treat back pain.

As part of an articulation agreement with Logan University, students in the Pre-Chiropractic track are able to complete their education and start their careers quickly. This agreement allows the student to earn both a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Mercy College and a Chiropractic degree at Logan in six years. Once their Chiropractic degree is complete, graduates are certified to practice Chiropractic medicine.

The program requires students to take their first three years of Mercy College courses at Mercy College. The fourth year of courses is taken at Logan University. Courses completed at Logan University transfer back to Mercy College for the completion of the Bachelor of Science in Biology degree. This fourth year of courses is also counted as the first year of credit toward the Chiropractic degree. It’s an efficient, accelerated pace for students interested in a 6-year chiropractic degree program and curious about the world of chiropractic medicine.

Admission Requirements

Mercy College students in good standing can declare a biology major. High school science courses (Biology and Chemistry with a lab) or their college equivalents must be taken within the past seven years with a “C” or better prior to the first semester. For students to progress to the third semester of the program, the mathematics prerequisites must be met. Mathematics prerequisites are as follows: high school courses or their college equivalents within the past seven years with a “C” or better including Algebra I; Algebra II and Trigonometry or Pre-Calculus or an integrated sequence of advanced math courses (Statistics, Business Math, and/or computer courses will not fulfill this requirement). All program courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.
