The Hoffman Ambassadors Scholarship Program is a leadership and service-based scholarship that supports students who are committed to community engagement and servant leadership. Through this program, students participate in a cohort experience designed to strengthen civic responsibility, leadership development, and service to the communities surrounding Mercy College, including Toledo, Detroit, and neighboring areas.

For the 2026-2027 aid year, up to three students will be selected to receive the Hoffman Ambassadors Scholarship, which provides up to $4,000 per academic year ($2,000 per semester).

The program is open to all currently enrolled Mercy College students who demonstrate a commitment to service, leadership, and the mission and values of Mercy College.

Program Expectations

Students selected as Hoffman Ambassadors participate in a structured experience that includes the following components:

Community Service Commitment

Hoffman Ambassadors complete community service throughout the academic year, partnering with organizations that address community-identified needs. Service opportunities will take place both on and off campus. Examples of service opportunities may include volunteering in the Mercy College food pantry, serving alongside faculty and staff during Mercy College’s MLK Day of Service, and participating in Alternative Spring Break.

Leadership and Campus Engagement

Ambassadors serve as student leaders on campus and may assist with activities such as New Student Orientation (NSO), prayer services, and campus ministry initiatives. Opportunities may also include participation on the Mission Integration Committee and supporting Green Dot training efforts, helping to foster a welcoming and mission-centered campus community.

Reflection and Learning

The program emphasizes reflection and dialogue to help students connect their service experiences with personal growth, civic responsibility, and Mercy College’s mission.

Program Foundations

The Hoffman Ambassadors Scholarship Program is grounded in the following principles:

  • Servant Leadership – Inspired by the servant leadership model, which emphasizes leading by serving others and prioritizing the needs of the community.
