Mercy College offers a comprehensive Pre-Pharmacy track designed to equip students for successful entry into pharmacy school. Through an exclusive articulation agreement with the Doctoral program of Pharmacy at St. Joseph University, Mercy College presents an accelerated 6-year pharmacy program. This unique pathway allows students to earn both a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Mercy College and a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of St. Joseph (USJ) within six years.
During the initial three years, students undertake Mercy College courses at the institution's campus. The subsequent fourth year is spent at USJ's campus in Hartford, Connecticut, where courses completed are seamlessly transferred back to Mercy College, contributing to the completion of the Bachelor of Science in Biology degree. Additionally, these courses count towards the first year of the Doctor of Pharmacy program at USJ. This collaborative approach provides students with a solid foundation in medicine and health sciences from Mercy College, complemented by advanced education through the esteemed USJ partnership, ensuring they possess a competitive edge to excel in their healthcare careers.
Upon graduation from the Doctor of Pharmacy program at USJ, students are prepared for diverse career opportunities, including roles in clinical research, medical sales, pharmacology, and product/process development, among others.
