You are not alone. We’re here to help.

The Mercy College Student Emergency Fund (MCSEF) was established to keep students on the path to academic success during a personal and unexpected crisis. Guided by our Mission and Values, the goal of the MCSEF is to assist students with unforeseen financial emergencies that would prevent them from continuing their education at Mercy College. These funds are intended for essential needs and are not to be used for tuition, books, or students who voluntarily reduce work hours. Requests must be urgent in nature and students should have exhausted all other resources. Funds do not need to be repaid.

Procedure to Request Funds

When a student experiences hardship or an unforeseen financial difficulty and needs assistance to cover essential needs, the student may complete a Student Emergency Fund Request or contact Rev. Gerald Cameron at gerald.cameron@mercycollege.edu or 419-251-1866. To be eligible, students must be pursuing a degree or a credit-bearing certificate. Other resources and assistance may be available to students who are in a non-credit bearing certificate program. Contact Rev. Gerald Cameron at gerald.cameron@mercycollege.edu or 419-251-1866.

Once a Student Emergency Fund Request is received, the student will be contacted by a member of the Student Emergency Fund Team to discuss the need and resources that are available. The details of a student's circumstances will be kept confidential. The Student Emergency Fund Team will consider each request and determine whether the request for funds can be granted. Decisions will be made as soon as possible depending on the urgency of the need. Please note, funds will not be administered in the first two weeks of the semester until the census has been completed. Any requests received in the first two weeks will be contacted and put into a pending status. Requests will then be accepted and processed up until the final two weeks of the semester.

The request process and funds are administered through the Division of Student Affairs in conjunction with the Office of Spiritual and Community Engagement and the Office of Retention and Success Strategies.
