Update Regarding Fall Semester

Thank you for your flexibility, patience, and resilience over the last several months. As you know, the fire that impacted portions of our campus required us to make a number of adjustments to ensure that classes and student services could continue with as little disruption as possible. I am writing to share an important update regarding classroom locations for the Fall 2026 semester. As a result of the ongoing recovery efforts following the fire, the College will continue to utilize classroom space at Lourdes University for some of the classes this fall. Note: All face-to-face Arts & Sciences classes will be taught at Lourdes.

We will share updates via your student or faculty/staff email account, through postings on CANVAS (our Learning Management System (LMS), and this page of the website.

  • We are currently in the process of finalizing the Fall 2026 class schedule.
  • Any changes to your course location will be communicated through your college email and updated in EMPOWER ME!

What Happened

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026 Mercy College of Ohio experienced a fire in an electrical panel on the Jefferson Avenue side of the building. Thankfully, the fire was contained, and all students, faculty, and staff were quickly and safely evacuated. No injuries were reported. We appreciate the support of local fire professionals in their swift response and action.

Unfortunately, damage to the electrical panel has shut down the ability to circulate air and provide electricity in many classrooms at the College. Those repairs could take several weeks. To continue student learning without interruption, our team has contingency plans in place.

In the interim, Mercy College remains operational and will go to remote online learning in applicable areas. We are partnering with Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center and other Mercy Health facilities to identify alternative learning space. Some classroom learning may move to these sites, where we feel confident the spaces will provide the access and accommodations needed to our students.

As this situation evolves, we will share updates via your student or faculty/staff email account, through postings on CANVAS (our Learning Management System (LMS), and MercyCollege.edu/update. Please plan to check those locations for updates.

Will associates and students need special identification while at Lourdes?

There are no additional identification requirements, but associates and students are required to wear their Mercy College ID badge.

Where should I park? Is a parking pass needed?

There is parking available near the Russel J. Ebeid Hall (REH). Parking passes are required. More information will be sent to your email during the week of June 8 once the parking pass pick-up schedule is finalized. Individuals are responsible for parking in the correct areas; failure to park in designated areas may result in a parking ticket. Parking tickets will not be issued until passes are distributed.

How do I contact Mercy College faculty at Lourdes?

Continue to use the current Mercy College faculty and staff emails and phone numbers.

What building and room will my class be in?

Check EMPOWER ME!, and Canvas course shells for guidance from instructors.

What hours are the Lourdes campus available to students?

Mercy College access hours for our designated areas are:

Monday to Friday - 6:30 AM – 11:00 PM
Saturday and Sunday - 6:30 AM – 9:00 PM

Note: All Nursing Skills Lab, SIM and IPE sessions are scheduled and assigned within Achieve in collaboration with course faculty.

What buildings will students have access to at Lourdes?

For the semester, the buildings include:

St. Francis Hall (SFH) – Simulation Center (during scheduled session times)
St. Joseph Hall (SJH) / Flasck Nursing Center – Nursing Skills Labs (during scheduled session times)
Russell J. Ebeid Hall (REH)

Classrooms (during scheduled class times)

Student Success Center (student lounge) on the lower level

Is there a cafeteria available?

No, the cafeteria will not be available for the Fall 2026 semester.

Are classes for other programs than nursing going to move to Lourdes?

AASN (day and evening/weekend), BSN-P, and ABSN select in-person classes, SIM, and Nursing skills lab practice and skills checkoffs will be conducted at Lourdes. Interprofessional education (IPE) will be conducted at Lourdes or at Mercy College in the Madison building, including select non-nursing programs. Impacted students will be provided with guidance that will be available in Canvas course shells.

What IT support is available for associates and students?

Please call the Mercy College IT backline at 419-251-9898.

Is there security on campus?

There is 24/7 security coverage that can be reached at 419-574-3861.

Are there guidelines for the grounds areas?

Utilize only paved walkways to navigate the campus and areas with tables and chairs. Do not socialize on the lawns (unless it is at a table).

Are food and drink permitted inside the classrooms at Lourdes?

No. Food and drink are allowed in the Student Success Center (lounge), indoor general seating areas, and outside seating areas.

Ebeid Hall.
