-Week of Welcome – this bi-annual event, which occurs during the first week of the fall and spring semesters, was again a great success! Many thanks go to Angie Woodel and Shelly Clark for coordinating the event, with great appreciation to the faculty and staff who assisted in the effort.

-Mercy Heritage Week (September 20-24) – This annual event was celebrated again in the virtual format due to the pandemic. Many thanks to the Mission Integration Committee for marketing the event and to the former Director, Annie Devine, for her efforts in putting the event together, prior to leaving the college.

-Halloween Howl – Due to the continued COVID pandemic, an abbreviated version will take place on Monday, October 25-27. Contact Angie Woodel or 419-251-1734 or Melanie Vincent or 419-251- 1411 for details.

-Journey to Success Series – for the third semester this series, presented by the Student Success Center (SSC), presents workshops for students addressing academic support and professional & personal development. -SOAR – the summer orientation sessions were a great success, and planning for the fall sessions are almost finalized, as the first session is Tuesday, November 9. Contact Kristen Porter or 419-251- 1339.

UPDATES

- Mercy College Food Pantry –Please access the link to see how you can contribute to the pantry and continue to serve our students in need.

-ALEKS – Math placement software, replaced Accuplacer, and is being utilized this fall semester.

-E2E Advising – scheduling and note storing & sharing software, replaced Appointment Plus, is being used in the Student Success Center, and is showing effectiveness with efficiency and user-friendliness.

- Assistant Dean of Student Life search – Mr. Marcus Dawson has accepted the offer to become the next Assistant Dean of Student Life. Marcus will begin the position on Monday, November 1. He comes to us from Albion College (MI) and been is Student Affairs and higher education for 16 years. Thank you to all that participated in the interviews for the search.

- Early Alert Form – If you have a student that is struggling academically, please make sure you utilize the Early Alert Form to initiate a collaborative and supportive approach to success. Access the form here.

- Concern and Complaint Form – If you are aware of a student that is struggling outside of the classroom, please consider using the Concern and Complaint Form. A new and improved NCLEX exam is coming in April 2023

The Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) exam asks better questions to help nurses think critically when providing care and to make clinical judgments and the right decisions. Dr. Gail Lis, Assistant Dean of Nursing, is Chair of the Next Generation NCLEX task force. The task force will focus on providing faculty development sessions scheduled throughout the current and next academic year. Faculty development workshop sessions will focus on the examination of the clinical judgment model, classroom teaching strategies to promote clinical judgment skills, and test writing practice to specifically evaluate students’ clinical judgment skills. Simulation experiences and clinical teaching strategies to enhance clinical judgment skills will also be addressed.

If you receive your flu shot at a Mercy Health facility your verification will be automatically uploaded to your Be Well profile. You should ask for a copy for your records.

· For those associates that choose to have their flu vaccination outside a Mercy Health facility, you are to submit your proof of flu vaccination via email to flu@BSMHealth.org

· If you need to submit a medical or religious flu exemption form, follow the instructions below: 1. Go to BSMH central: https://healthpartners.sharepo...

2. Click on “flu & COVID-19 vaccine policy” picture

3. Chose the type of exemption you are requesting (blue bars)

4. Complete the online form and submit If you need assistance contact Andrea Rohrs at amrohrs@mercy.com
