Dear Staff & Faculty,

In preparation for Black History Week 2022 (happening February 21st - February 25th (more information to come)), I am happy to share with you an exciting opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and reflection! The Office of Diversity & Inclusion will be facilitating a two-part dialogue series on the book, “I am still here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness” by Austin Channing Brown. The book follows the author as she shares her journey as a Black woman in the United States. Join us to engage on topics such as race, diversity, privilege, and more! Books will be provided for those participating in the series!

Registration is required to participate in the two-part series. Please follow the link below to register and learn more about the event. The deadline to register is Wednesday, February 2.

Two-Factor Authentication Coming to Empower on February 1, 2022

Submitted by Jeff Metzger

Two-factor authentication will be enabled in both the Empower Me website and the Empower client on February 1, 2022, to provide an additional layer of security beyond just a username and password. All users of Empower will be impacted, including faculty, staff, students, prospective students, and alumni. You will still sign in to Empower as usual with your username and password, but then Empower will send an email to your personal email address with a security code. You will need to enter that security code into the security validation screen in Empower to complete the sign-in process. To ensure a smooth sign-in experience, please take a moment to verify your personal email address in Empower in advance by using the “Update Personal Information” option in Empower Me. If you do not have a personal email address on file in Empower, it will fall back to using your Mercy College email address. Please see the online how-to guide for detailed instructions regarding the new sign-in process. The Mercy College Information Technology team is available at 419-251-9898 to help with two-factor authentication issues.
