Karla Carver
Dr. Karla Carver is an alumnus of the Mercy College of Ohio Associate Degree in Nursing program where she was a non-traditional, second career nursing student. She has worked bedside in acute care, in ambulatory care, and as a clinical and practice manager. Her career path led her to nursing education in 2015. Dr. Carver returned to Mercy College of Ohio in 2019 as the Clinical Coordinator for the Nursing Division. She has since completed her MSN in Nursing Education and EdD in Health Professions Education and transitioned into her current role as Program Director of the AASN programs. She insists she will not be returning to school again, but nobody seems to believe her. Dr. Carver is a staunch supporter of Career Technical and Associate Degree education. Her research interests include innovative curriculum design and LGBTQ+ education for health professionals.
Dr. Carver lives in the Toledo area with her husband John, son Peyton, and a menagerie of rescued misfit dogs and cats (life hack for students, she is easily distracted by conversations involving dogs). Despite investing in every lint roller known to humankind, it is a solid bet you will see the occasional pet hair on her sweater.
