Compliance and Risk Management Update

The Office of Compliance and Risk Management has several projects this academic year to hopefully make compliance easy and understandable for the College community!

  • Meditract contract management repository and workflow- anyone at the College who has submitted a contract for approval knows how significant a more robust and efficient system will be to our work. The go-live date is tentatively scheduled for January 2021.
  • College policy repository and process- with changes coming to the Hub, we are working on a repository for Board-approved policies as well as a place for collaboration on developing and revising College policies.
  • Title IX policy and procedures implementation- because of significant changes to the Title IX policy, updated hearing procedures and processes are required.
  • Mandatory training for students, faculty, and staff- new Title IX and mandatory compliance training specific to institutions of higher education will be provided by a third-party vendor, SafeColleges. We look forward to launching this new training, which includes tracking tools, yet this semester.

Our office continues to coordinate with Bon Secours Mercy Health Legal and Human Resources on areas that impact the College, including clinical affiliation agreements and policies that are especially relevant to College employees. In support of the new Physician Assistant program and in response to their accreditation process, Janice Bernard is working with BSMH Legal to enhance our clinical affiliation agreements with required language in relation to student safety at the clinical sites. A refreshed Code of Conduct is available to all BSMH employees and is part of the mandatory training in Workday. Sherri Boggs is working behind the scenes to ensure all mandatory training modules for College employees are available in Workday, as there are some modules that are specifically required for employees in higher education.

In addition to these specific projects and initiatives, we continue to monitor legal and compliance requirements related to the pandemic.

Stay tuned for future updates!

VPN Update Rescheduled

Submitted by Jeff Metzger

Due to the emergency server patching this past weekend, BSMH IT has delayed the update to the MercyVPN Access (F5) software. The update is now scheduled for October 9. If you use VPN on a Mercy College laptop, you will receive the update. Please leave your laptop turned on and connected to the Internet (not VPN) on Friday night so the upgrade can occur overnight. Your computer will reboot as part of the process so make sure your work is saved. If you encounter any issues after the update, please call the BSMH Service Desk at 833-MY1HELP.
