Update from Strategic Planning and Enrollment

Strategic Planning: The Strategic Planning and Budgeting Council (SPBC) continues to meet monthly reviewing the Strategic Plan and monitoring our progress on the objectives for each goal. At our February and March meetings, we reviewed the Strategic Plan power point to remove all references to the transfer of operations with BGSU. In addition, we spent time reviewing the Mission, Vision, and Values for the College and how they fit with the Mercy Health updated Mission, Vision and Values after the merger with Bon Secours. The Council determined that the College Mission, Vision, and Values will remain as they are. While they are worded differently from those of Mercy Health, they accurately reflect the College and the work that we do and will continue to do with our students. The SPBC did not meet in April as the College was closed for Good Friday. The SPBC will meet in May and June. Membership of the SPBC is appointed by the President and those who serve represent specific constituent groups for the College.

Enrollment
: We continue to develop and select the members who will serve on the Strategic Enrollment Committee. This committee is a recommendation from Ruffalo Noel Levitz. The Committee will be co-chaired by the Vice President of Strategic Planning and Enrollment and the Vice President of Academic Affairs/Dean of Faculty. Members of the committee will be notified in July and the first meeting of the committee will be held in early August. I will continue to keep the Board of Trustees updated on this committee and our progress.

The target number for summer and fall enrollment is 560 new students and we are working hard to meet that goal. The Admission Officers continue to attend hospital visits within the Mercy Health System and community colleges to focus on students interested in completing their bachelor’s degrees and to work with the incomplete applicants for the Fall semester to move them to completed, accepted, and ultimately enrolled students.

A record-high 450 scholarship applications were received by the scholarship deadline of February 28, 2019. The Scholarship Committee met on March 29 and April 10 and selected 175 scholarship recipients for fall 2019.

If you have questions for Enrollment please do not hesitate to contact us. We are happy to provide answers and updates!

Alumni Relations: Denise Hudgin, Director of Communication and I are working with the Board of both the Alumni Association and the Auxiliary to provide support for their activities. This includes assisting with copies and other materials they may need. On April 29, we hosted members of the Alumni and Auxiliary Boards at the Mud Hens suite to thank them for their work with the College and their generosity to provide more scholarship dollars to students. While the game was rainy and a loss for the Mud Hens, a good time was had by all that attended.
