Faculty & Staff Newsletter

March 9, 2020

Happy Spring Break to all of you. I hope that it is a restful week for each of you!

I wanted to provide a couple of updates from the Enrollment Division!

As you may be aware, we have a new position at the College, Coordinator of Alumni Relations/Grants. After an interview process that included members of the Mercy College Alumni Board and Auxiliary, an offer has been made and accepted. Please join me in welcoming Hannah Bohn to this new role!! As you know Hannah has served as an Admission Officer for the past two years and will be transitioning to the Alumni role. Her office will be located in the Administrative suite. Hannah will begin her new role on Monday, March 30, 2020. In the meantime she will be wrapping up her work in the Admissions Office. Amy Mergen will begin the process to replace Hannah in the Admission Office.

We have received the preliminary default rate for 2017 from the Department of Education. It is 4%. This is outstanding and another great reason to select Mercy College. Our students receive jobs which in turn allows them to be able to repay the loans that paid for their education. Once the rate is finalized, more detail will be shared with the College. For 2016 Mercy College's default rate was 5.6% compared to 10.1% Nationally, 11% for Ohio, 6.6% for Private Institutions, and 6.3% for 4 year Private Institutions.

The Strategic Enrollment Committee continues to work on the Strategic Enrollment Plan for the College and has set a target date for the plan to be in final draft form by April 30, 2020.

The Strategic Planning and Budgeting Council has begun the yearly review of our Strategic Plan. Two retreats are being held to complete this review, one in February, and one in March. Once we have the plan updated, it will be shared with the College community for review and comment. The plan will be presented to the Board of Trustees at their June 2020 meeting for final approval.

If you have questions or would like to know more about what is happening in Enrollment, please do not hesitate to contact me or any other Enrollment team. We are happy to answer your questions.

Have a wonderful spring break week!

Lori
