Updates from IT

Windows 10 Upgrade
All Windows 10 computers will soon be upgraded to a newer version of Windows 10. This upgrade is scheduled to occur April 5-26 and will ensure that we continue to run on a supported version of the operating system. Your applications, favorites, and documents will not be affected. It will be a rolling update starting at 11 p.m. and you will know in advance what day your upgrade is scheduled. The computer must be left on and connected to the Internet, but a VPN connection is not needed. This will allow your computer to update overnight rather than interrupting your work during business hours. More detailed information will be coming soon.

Student Laptop Program
Mercy College IT has partnered with Dell to launch a new Student Laptop Program that offers substantial discounts (10-25% off) to students who are interested in buying a Dell laptop for school. This is similar to the Member Purchase Program that already exists for faculty and staff. Students can shop from a pre-selected list of discounted laptops at https://www.dell.com/MercyCollege Please feel free to share that link with any students who may be looking for a computer. (Faculty and staff can use that same link to access those deals as well as the full Dell catalog. There is a 17% off sale happening now for a wide range of technology.)
