Dear Mercy College Community:

As you are all aware from yesterday’s college assembly meetings, the Youngstown location will close effective December 31, 2023. As we take in this news we are mindful of the uncertainty our colleagues in Youngstown face. The Youngstown team has truly gone above and beyond in educating Mercy College students.

We now must prepare for the last incoming class and the teachout. We are committed to maintaining the excellent nursing education and services to students in Youngstown through the December 2023 closure. Accordingly, the Administration at Mercy College has begun developing and planning for the implementation of a Teachout and Closure blueprint to be completed no later than December 2023 for the Youngstown location.

This is a decision that the College Board of Trustees did not take lightly in approving, however, this also provides the Toledo campus the ability to explore new, ever-evolving opportunities in higher education, such as community and academic partnerships. The Enrollment Division is creating a new position, Director of Community and Collegiate Partnerships in order to build these partnerships. Through these relationships, we can add students to our current programs and continue to develop new programs that meet the needs of the broader healthcare community, including Bon Secours Mercy Health. Staff Council Nominations

Looking for a leadership role at the College? Staff Council self-nominations and/or nominations of staff for the upcoming year 2021-2022 has begun! The deadline to nominate is noon on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Nominations do NOT need manager approval, however, if you nominate someone, they must accept the nomination to be named on the voting ballot. Nominations can be submitted via email at Staff.Council@mercycollege.edu or online here.
