Community Engagement Update

Submitted by Annie Devine

United Way of Toledo’s “Kick Off to Caring” is taking place on Wed. August 7, 2019, from 8:00-9:30 a.m. Join over 1,000 members of the community to pack 5,000+ backpacks with school supplies for local students in need. If you’re interested in participating in the Mercy College group that will be volunteering at this event, email Annie Devine at annie.devine@mercycollege.edu by Wednesday, July 31. United Way is also taking monetary donations to help provide supplies for the backpacks. Donate here. If you know someone that could use backpacks for their child or children, please have them dial 2-1-1 to be connected to a backpack.

Mercy Health is co-sponsoring the first annual “Zip the Burg” race in Perrysburg on August 2, 2019. Volunteers are needed to register participants, stock food and beverage tables, set up and tear down the event, act as course marshals, and more. For more information about volunteering at the event visit www.downtownperrysburg.org or view the Zip the Burg Race - Volunteer Information Flyer.

Last but not least, click below for the Community Engagement Update for August. If you have a volunteer opportunity that you’d like to be included in the update, please contact Annie Devine, Director of Campus Ministry & Service Learning, at annie.devine@mercycollege.edu or 419-251-1866.
