Mercy College Mourns Maria Nowicki, former leader of Nursing Division
Maria Nowicki, RN, PhD, died on February 5. She was a graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing and instrumental in the transition from the Mercy School of Nursing to an accredited college. She led the nursing division for 17 years and, since her retirement in 2013, was active with both the Mercy Alumni Association and Auxiliary, as well as a gift shop volunteer. She became a published author in 2018 about the history of nursing education, Caps Capes and Caring. She had an incredible sense of humor and could make, bake, sew, or grow almost anything.

Andrea Fleming Announces Retirement
Andrea Fleming, our Chief Financial Officer, has announced her retirement effective May 3, 2024. Andrea has planned and worked hard over the years to be able to meet this goal of hers. She plans to spend time with her parents and enjoy lake life. Andrea has worked for the Mercy system for 34 years, with 5 of those years dedicated to her role at Mercy College. Dr. Manuel Martinez will be leading the search for Andrea's successor. The goal is to find the right person before May 3 so Andrea can train the new person before she starts her well-deserved retirement. Congratulations to Andrea.
Prayers for the Zervos Family
Please pray for Jana Zervos, Admissions Assistant, for the loss of her husband Les. Les passed peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from cancer. To honor Les’s wishes, there will not be a funeral or any type of service. Les wants everyone to do something they enjoy and celebrate living. Jana, from the bottom of her heart, thanks everyone for all the support, love, and kindness during this difficult time.
