News from Academic Affairs

We’re all working hard to bring the semester to a successful close. Let's finish strong!

  • Dr. Padmaja Nandigama is a speaker at the international Student Wellness and Leadership conference on Dec 18. Dr. Nandigama’s talk is entitled “What is FOMO and How to Deal With It”, which looks at the fear that other people are doing better or leading better lives. Focus on student wellness is desperately needed, and we are so appreciative of Dr. Nandigama’s participation in this event. Congratulations Padmaja!
  • Dawn Borgerson earned a certification from the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning through their Simulation Education Program. Developed and facilitated by experts in the field, this program provides a pathway for simulation educators, practitioners, and directors to learn and apply evidence-based strategies in simulation. The learning objectives include integrating the Standards of Best Practice into curricula to advance the science of simulation; demonstrating effective simulation design principles to facilitate learner-centered, simulation-based experiences; generating evaluation strategies to determine the impact on patient, participant and systems outcomes; and participating in leadership and scholarship activities to advance the science of simulation. Congratulations Dawn!
  • Dr. Sung Chun presented a paper entitled “ An Analysis of Wage Disparities among Registered Nurses in the US: Preliminary Summary of Findings” at the Annual Meeting (Virtual) of the American Sociological Association.
2021 Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association, Virtual, August 6-10.

Can you find the Blue Healer on Campus?

Submitted by Hannah Bohn

Blue healer on campus

The Blue Healer will appear in a different location across campus (in both Toledo & Youngstown) every day Monday - Friday from December 1-23. Encourage your students to find the Blue Healer and post a photo to social media! Full rules in the image.

It's like Elf on the Shelf... but better!
You know the rules...
No touching! If the Blue Healers gets touched, it will lose its magic.
The Blue Healer can't talk, but it can listen. After all, dogs are people's best friends!

Don't worry, unlike Elf on the Shelf, the Blue Healer won't leave on Christmas Eve. It will still be around campus for us to enjoy!
